On Saturday, April 7th, I had the pleasure of watching Musical Connections’ latest performance at the Scottish Rite Theatre.

It was really enlightening and I learned a lot about the santour, a beautiful instrument that is both fun and steeped in history and tradition. The performance transported you into a world not your own, introducing you to the life and history of Armenian culture.

The atmosphere was beautiful, and the music even more so. I certainly felt that my worldview changed for the better when I heard both the energetic, upbeat dance songs and the soulful, melancholic laments about a people displaced. Your emotions rose and fell with the mood of the music, which is only a testament to each musician’s skill.

You won’t experience anything so emotional, informative and fulfilling anywhere else.
