Flying Balalaika Brothers blends modern-day and traditional sounds to create a futuristic fusion of experimental world music. Their shows are extremely interactive and our concerts illuminate the passion, excitement and sorrow for which the Gypsy music is famous. Seamlessly moving from slower traditional Russian folk songs to guitar and drum-driven punk rock, the group’s high-energy shows feel more like a block party than a performance.

White Ghost Shivers revel in string-band music from the 20s and 30s, mixing early jazz, hokum, vaudeville, ragtime, western swing and hillbilly, yet unleashing the gutterous underbelly of a pseudo-rock world gone wrong. A joyous mixture of the absurd and sublime, the six-piece ensemble gracefully blends a musical amalgam of Hokum Blues, Hillbilly Swing, Country and Hot Jazz.

Wino Vino’s syncretic styling’s have earned them the attention of the most discriminating Musicphiles. Their refined blend of salty lyrics, bawdy Prohibition-era cabaret, and Eastern European folk music features multiple vocalists, guitar, fiddle, accordion, upright bass, clarinet, trumpet, and percussion. Vibrant melodies and marvelously florid tempos of this band of charming miscreants coalesce to create a cheerful playground for their sweaty, satiated fans.
The City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division, a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, all have helped make this event possible.
