Austin audiences will have the unique opportunity to see a living legend of Czech classical and European jazz music !
Felix Slováček,Sr. and two young stars of the current Czech musical scene – clarinetist and soprano saxophonist Felix Slováček, Jr. and pianist Viacheslav Grokhovski, Jr., from a famous Czech musical family.
Arists: Felix Slováček, Sr., clarnet, soprano–saxophone, renowned across Europe Felix Slováček, Jr., clarinet & soprano–saxophone, will perform with Vyacheslav Grokhovsky, Jr., on piano. they will perform a wide range of international works from Tchaikovsy to Schubert to Massenet and from Smetana to Stravinsky to Carl Stamitz.
About the Artists:
Felix Slovacek Sr. clarinetist, saxophonist conductor, and pedagogist studied piano and violin much of his youth; but his real interest in clarinet, and later, saxophone began after finishing high school. He has worked in all genres of music, including classical, children’s music, jazz. He is the leader of the “Felix Slováček Big Band.” Throughout his career, he has sold over two million albums.
He is most famous as a soloist of pop-music and jazz. As a soloist in classical music, he has performed with most of
the major orchestras of Eastern Europe and Italy.
Pianist Vyacheslav Grokhovsky, Jr is a prizewinner of international competitions. Vyacheslav performs extensively as a soloist and as a chamber musician. He is a member of the E. Napravnik Piano Trio and chief director of the International Eduard Napravnik Music Festival in the Czech Republic. His international appearances include festivals in Italy, France, the United States, the Czech Republic, Germany and Russia.
Czech Clarinetist Felix Slováček, Jr. is a versatile and charismatic artist who comfortably navigates the worlds of classical music and jazz as well as the musical theater, where he performs as a singer and actor. He has been selected as the state soloist of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
